Did You Know? Three Titles For Mark Twain's Frog Story?

The story heard by Mark Twain in the Angels Hotel (Currently Calaveras Coin & Pawn) had three titles throughout its publishing days.

  •  First was Jim Smiley and his Jumping Frog.
  • Then, it was The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.
  • Then, finally it was called The Notorious Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.
The most common reprinted title in modern circulation however is "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County."

The story was first heard at the current home of Calaveras Coin & Pawn in the Angels Camp Hotel.
